The main functional task of a motion sensor is turning the light on when detecting human or automatic control over lighting depending on changes of the level of illumination. Passive IR sensors work out when the moving object appears at the sensor's working sensitivity range. 

Dimmer is installed instead of standard mechanical switcher and allows to regulate the brightness of synthetic lighting smoothly. All dimmers are intended for turning on/off the light and regulating its brightness.
